2012 Olympic Games & The Garden of England
The world’s biggest sporting event comes to the UK in 2012 – The London Olympic and Paralympic Games. If you are planning to visit the Games in 2012, the Garden of England is ideally situated as a base for travelling to London and the other Olympic venues in the South East – without the London traffic and prices.
Excellent train links from the major towns in Kent and Sussex, mean that you can be at the London Olympic venues in less than an hour and return at the end of a long and exciting day to the peace and quiet of your accommodation in the middle of the Garden of England. And for those days when you’re not at the Games, you can spend your time relaxing and discovering the countryside and wonderful places to visit throughout the Garden of England.
The Olympic Torch Relay is coming to the Garden of England in July 2012 and will be passing through Hastings on 17 July, Dover on 18 July and Maidstone on 19 July. The exact route the relay will take on its journey to these locations will be announced later this year, but there should be plenty of opportunities to join in the unique atmosphere and to catch a glimpse of the runners as they carry the torch on its way to London for the start of the Games on 27 July 2012.
