Gardens in Sussex

Gardens in Sussex

Sheffield Park & Garden, near Uckfield, East Sussex

Places to visit in Kent and Sussex

There is a huge range of places to visit in Kent and Sussex with more castles, stately homes and gardens open to the public than any other area of the country. Added to that, there are numerous museums, galleries, steam railways, vineyards and much more to add to your list of what to do in Kent in Sussex. Include some of the big names such as Leeds Castle, Hever Castle, Chartwell, and the gardens at Great Dixter, Sheffield Park and Sissinghurst Castle on your itinerary, but be sure also to include some of the less well known gardens, such as Pashley Manor, Emmetts, Nymans, Penshurst Place, Marle Place and Riverhill Himalayan Gardens to create a visit full of variety.

Visit some of Britain's key historical sites such as Battle Abbey & 1066 Battlefield the site of the Battle of Hastings, and experience impressive castles such as those at Bodiam, Dover, Walmer and Tonbridge. Discover some fascinating stately homes and visitor attractions such as Chiddingstone Castle with its unique collections of Japanese and Egyptian artefacts, beautiful Ightham Mote and the newly restored Hadlow Tower.

There's plenty for families too at Kent Life, the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway - and even two wild animal parks in the heart of the Kent countryside at Howletts and Port Lympne. And for the adults, how about sampling some award winning wines produced at Chapel Down Winery or Biddenden Vineyards?

And don’t forget some of the fascinating towns and villages in the Garden of England when deciding where to go in Kent – including Royal Tunbridge Wells, Tenterden, Cranbrook and Westerham. And in Sussex, try Rye and Battle  – full of history and interest.
