Steam Trains and more...
Planes, trains and automobiles - there are many ways to indulge childhood passions or to take a trip down memory lane in the UK's Garden of England.
Vintage train journeys in Kent and Sussex can be taken on the Kent & East Sussex Railway from Tenterden and Bodiam along 21 miles through glorious countryside. The Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway is home to the world's most complete collection of one third full size steam locomotives which travel across the stunning Romney Marsh. Steam trains can also be caught at a number of other heritage railways in the region including the well known Bluebell Railway at Sheffield Park, whilst restored vintage diesel trains run on the small, charming East Kent Railway, near Dover.
The collections of toy pedal cars and other toys from decades gone by at the Mill Toy Museum in Northiam, and of real life cars at the CM Booth Collection of Motor Vehicles in Rolvenden, as well as the collections of war time aircraft at the Shoreham Aircraft Museum are sure to bring back childhood memories too.
