Battle is a charming market town with a wonderful mix of shops, restaurants, galleries and visitor attractions. At its centre stands Battle Abbey built by William the Conqueror on the site of one of the most famous battles in English history - the Battle of Hastings. Visitors can learn all about the battle from audio tours and interactive exhibits, as well as walk the battlefield of 1066. Opposite the Abbey, Yesterday's World provides a fascinating look at the past through the shops of bygone eras.
